Make Me a Blessing
Ira Bishop Wilson wrote this hymn in 1909. We sang it in church a few weeks ago, and the words came alive to me.
“Make Me A Blessing”
Out in the highways and byways of life,
Many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad.
Refrain:
Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,
Out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,
Tell of His pow’r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
True, every moment you live.
Give as ’twas given to you in you need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true.

One of my all time favorite hymns! I am certain that you and your family are blessing many every day!
I’m fairly new to the world of hymns, but I do like this one (and many others).
I love the newer music too, but so many of the hymns have such powerful, Biblical lyrics, and I find them very worshipful. Keep exploring them…I think you’ll get hooked!
Beautiful. I’d never heard that one before. Thx for sharing.
